Powerful efficacy…now available at home
Convenience and peace of mind for you and your patients
If you’re caring for patients who are receiving injectable therapy for acromegaly, you know how important it is to receive their injections exactly as you have prescribed. But it may not always be easy for them to get to your office for their injections. That’s where the Sandostatin Nurse Home Injection Program can help.
With the Sandostatin Nurse Home Injection Program, eligible patients can now elect to have their injections administered at home by a registered nurse. To enroll your patients, all you have to do is:
- Decide if this program is appropriate for them and find out whether they are eligible
- Discuss the program with your patients
- Print the enrollment form and enroll your patient
The quality of clinical experience with the convenience of home care
The Sandostatin Nurse Home Injection Program offers benefits for your patients and for you:
- Peace of mind. Specially trained registered nurses provide expert care. So you know that your patient will receive the right dose, at the right time, using the right technique.
- Feedback from registered nurses. The nurse will submit a full report to you after each visit. You will know when the patient receives his/her treatment and what dose. The nurse might also report back additional relevant feedback from, your patient.
- Time saved for your patient. Your patient won’t need to make long trips to the office or treatment center.
- Time saved for you and your staff. You and your staff won’t need to spend valuable practice time preparing and administering injections, and you’ll have more time to devote to other patients.
- Convenience for your patients. Your patients can plan injections to suit their schedules. Nurses are available outside traditional office hours, including weekends and evenings.
- No needles for patients’ disposal. The program nurse handles disposal of all equipment.
How the Sandostatin Nurse Home Injection Program works
With the Sandostatin Nurse Home Injection Program, it’s easy to provide your patients with the convenience of home injections:
- You recommend the patient to the Nurse Home Injection Program and submit the enrollment form to BioScrip®, the company that administers the program.
- BioScrip® verifies the patient’s eligibility according to his or her insurance plan.
- Your patient receives a call from BioScrip® to schedule the next injection at your patient's convenience. (Patients must receive their first dose of Sandostatin LAR® Depot in your office.)
- A specially trained registered nurse is assigned to your patient. Nurses are specially trained on both acromegaly and Sandostatin LAR® Depot.
- The registered nurse visits your patient’s home. The nurse:
- Assesses the patient and reports any changes in disease status and/or comorbidities to you
- Administers the injection
- Makes the next appointment and follows up with a reminder
- Sends a report to you
The program does not replace your care. It simply provides patients with the convenience of home injections.
